Korean has two words for "this": 이 goes in front of a noun, and 이거 stands on its own.
This is the kind of explanation we give in class: small, concrete, and immediately usable. Then you practise it out loud until it sticks.
One caution: these are polite forms (-요), which is what you want as a visitor or a new learner. Casual speech exists, but you will not need it on day one.

Hangul in five minutes
Hangul is built from a small number of shapes. Learn five vowels and you can already read a surprising amount.
ㅏ
Like the "a" in father — short and open.
ㅓ
Between "uh" and "aw". Your mouth stays relaxed.
ㅗ
Rounded lips, like "o" in more.
ㅜ
Like "oo" in food, but shorter.
Vowels are only half the story — in class you'll pair them with consonants and read real words in the first session.
Watch a lesson
We publish short Korean lessons on social media — real teaching clips you can watch before you decide. Follow along and try the phrases on your own.
Recorded clips are used inside classes to practise listening at real speed. If you'd like a video sample before enrolling, ask and we'll send one.
