Questions

Frequently asked questions

Short, honest answers to what people ask before enrolling. If something isn't covered here, ask us directly — you'll get a real reply.

Can complete beginners join?

Yes. Beginners can start with the fundamentals — Hangul, pronunciation, and the first useful expressions — and build their Korean step by step. You don't need any previous study.

Are classes online?

Yes — every class is live online, taught on Google Meet. You'll get the joining link before your first class, and it is included in your enrollment confirmation.

What is the difference between private and small-group lessons?

Private lessons focus on one learner's goals and pace, with the lesson plan built around you. Small-group lessons provide guided learning with a maximum of three students total, so there is still plenty of speaking time and the group can learn from each other.

How many hours per week are included?

Both class options include three two-hour classes per week, totalling six hours. A course runs for four consecutive weeks with no planned break: 12 classes and 24 live hours.

How long will it take to improve?

Progress depends on your starting level, consistency, practice outside class, vocabulary revision, and your individual goals. There is no guaranteed timeline, and we won't promise one. What we can promise is a clear structure, regular speaking practice, and feedback on what to work on next.

Do I need to buy textbooks?

Your materials are discussed before you start, so you'll know exactly what is provided for the lessons and whether anything needs to be purchased separately. Nothing is sold to you as a surprise later.

How much do classes cost?

Small-group Korean is $150 and private Korean is $300, each for one four-week course. Both include three two-hour live classes a week for four weeks, and both run on Google Meet. Payment is by Wise or PayPal, in full before the course begins. See the class comparison for the full breakdown.

How do I enroll?

Complete the enrollment form or email seoul.speak.academy@gmail.com. You'll receive the next steps for selecting a class, confirming a schedule, and making payment. Nothing is charged by submitting the form.

When do classes run?

Classes are scheduled inside three windows, all in Korea Standard Time (KST, UTC+9): 8:00–10:00 AM, 6:00–8:00 PM, and 10:00 PM–12:00 AM. These are available windows, not guaranteed bookings — the exact days inside your window are agreed in writing before you pay.

What is your payment and cancellation policy?

Full payment is due before the four-week course begins, by Wise or PayPal. Student absences are not eligible for make-up classes. If you need to stop or change a course, tell us in writing and any change to the remaining classes is confirmed in writing before it takes effect. The Policies page has the full wording.

What level will I be in a group class?

Groups are arranged with a similar starting level in mind, and with a maximum of three students the pace can flex. If your level doesn't fit the group available, we'll tell you rather than place you somewhere that won't work.
